Why this works
The Grey Rock strategy is a self-preservation tactic used when dealing with a narcissist. The name "Grey Rock" is a metaphor for how you should present yourself when interacting with a narcissist - as uninteresting, unresponsive, and unengaging as a grey rock. This method encourages the person using it to be as emotionally non-responsive as possible, reducing the narcissist's ability to manipulate and control the situation.
Narcissists thrive on drama and emotional reactions. They use these reactions to manipulate situations to their advantage. The Grey Rock method aims to starve the narcissist of this 'narcissistic supply' by providing no emotional response or engagement.
The Grey Rock method is not about winning or defeating the narcissist. It is a defensive strategy, designed to protect you from the harmful effects of a narcissist's behavior. By becoming uninteresting to the narcissist, you reduce their interest in manipulating you, which can lead to a decrease in their damaging behavior.
NarcBot's goal is to remove the emotional 'hit' of dealing with emotionally difficult people. AI doesn't have feelings (yet), so let it take the brunt of the narcissist's rage.
